about me

As most of you know, I am currently in my fourth year studying architecture at Kansas State University.  In the spring semester (Spring 2009) my classmates and I are required to leave campus to either study abroad or intern at an architectural firm.  Most of my classmates are traveling to Italy to study up on ancient architecture, but God has something different planned for me.  I have been given the opportunity to intern with Engineering Ministries International (eMi).  God has called me to serve with eMi through their office in Kampala, Uganda.  I will be leaving for Uganda on January 19, 2009 and will be staying there for my thirty week internship.

eMi is a non-profit Christian organization that offers free design services to other Christian organizations in the developing world.  In doing so, their mission spreads love, hope, and the gospel of Jesus Christ to the physically and spiritually impoverished across the globe.  eMi has completed more than 700 projects in over 85 countries, designing essential facilities for local communities including hospitals, orphanages, churches, schools, and clean water systems.  While working with eMi, I will be offering my architectural skills to serve the people throughout East Africa.

Most of my work will consist of architectural design and drafting in the Kampala office.  However, this architectural work will also be complemented with travel to other areas of Africa for client visits and meetings, work at local soup kitchens and medical clinics, and even playing with the local children, teaching them God’s love in the process.  This experience will stretch and strengthen me in ways I cannot even fathom.

I need you to pray for me.  Prayer is amazing.  Prayer accomplishes unthinkable tasks.  I ask that you pray for me specifically, as well as the vision that eMi manifests through every project, every purpose, and every person.  Pray that I may show others God’s love through my actions and words.  Pray that I may have the endurance to persevere for Christ through any situation set before me.
